On October 1-14, 2014 Moscow will host the NINGH Territoria International Festival and School of Contemporary Performing Arts. The main program will feature eight plays (and one concert) from Great Britain, Germany, South Africa and Russia, which represent various trends in theatre and contemporary art from dance to live installation. The main venue of the festival will be again the Theatre of Nations; the special program 'Living spaces' is traditionally held off the theatre stage , in the most unexpected places adapted by the participants for their plays.

As usual, the festival presents an educational program for students majoring in creative arts. ‘Territoria’ organizing committee will select the applications from the students of Russian and foreign universities who will get an opportunity to watch the whole program of the festival and take part in the workshops from famous masters of contemporary theatre for free.

The Opening of ‘Territoria-2014’ will feature «iTMOi» the tribute to Igor Stravinskiy from the famous British choreographer Akram Khan. The guru of Indian classical dance, who began his career in Peter Brook’s ‘Mahabharata’, returns to the basic mythological symbols that inspired the creator of ‘The Rite of Spring’. The leading German director Thomas Ostermeier criticizes the modern society again, and again appeals to his favourite author Henrich Ibsen. This time he adapts the classical drama ‘An Enemy Of The People’ to today’s world. A special highlight of the program is a live installation «Exhibit B» created by Brett Bailey, a South African director and artist . His ‘racism museum’ featuring amateur actors-models sends back to the little-known episodes of the western history – to ‘human menageries’, where people with different skin colour watched each other through bars, and to the anthropological ‘discoveries’ of Nature science which prepared the theoretical base of the apartheid policy in SAR.

The Russian program of the festival presents the project of Teodor Kurentzis ‘Winter reise’, which combined the modern interpretations of classical music and experimental cinema. Besides, it features the new plays of the Theatre of Nations, such as ‘My anomaly’, the co-production of the most active Russian dance company ‘Dialogue Dance’, rock band J. Helloboy and Estonian choreographer Mart Kangro;’It's Easy To Quit’ - a documentary performance with amateur actors who underwent the treatment of drug addiction; ‘Gargantua and Pantagruel’ – one of the latest works of tireless Konstantin Bogomolov. Two premieres of the theatre are dedicated to the Shakespearian anniversary year: Timofey Kulyabin’s poetic play ‘#shakespearesonnets’ and ‘Shakespeare. The Labyrinth’ – a unique ‘one-of-a-kind’ project in the genre named ‘a stroll around the theatre’, which will be brought back on stage especially for ‘Territoria’.

Special festival project ‘Living spaces’, the only theatre laboratory in Moscow representing site-specific theatre, after last year ‘museum’ series is back to its primary format, so the directors can choose any unusual stage for their play sketches. This year the program is supervised by Yuriy Muravitskiy, the artistic director of the non-state theatre “18+” in Rostov-upon-Don and one of the key figures in ‘new drama’.
