Born in Moscow in 1976 he graduated from the Shchukin Theatre Academy in 1998 and got immediately hired by the Vakhtangov theatre as an actor. In 2001 he left the company, finished his acting career, and dedicated himself to developing futuristic cross-genre artistic projects. He directed ‘Me not I’ for the National Centre for Contemporary Art, ‘New Year’ on the music by ‘The Het’, ‘The Seagull or a coffin for Malevich’ for the Quick Theatre ‘Justo’, ‘the Third Turn’ for the Joseph Boyce Theatre, ‘The Chukchee’ (prize winner of the ‘Texture-2010’ award) and ‘Agata comes home’ at the Molot-Scene in Perm, ‘Uncle’s Dream’ based on a novella by Dostoevsky, Griboyedov’s ‘Woe from Wit’, Jean Cocteau’s ‘La Voix Humaine’, etc.
In 2014 Phiilipp supervised a wander-project ‘Shakespeare. The Labyrinth’ at the Theatre of Nations, dedicated to Shakespeare’s anniversary.
Philipp usually both directs and designs his theatre projects, which often destines his productions to balance between the dramatic and visual arts, between being a performance and an installation.
